Arrival Details
All travelers must arrive in Buenos Aires (at the latest) on the day before a mid morning domestic flight on Day 1. It may be possible to check straight through to El Calafate Airport from Bs. As. International Airport. Normally easiest to break the journey in Bs.As.
DAY ONE //
The itinerary starts with your being in Patagonia & transferring to Estancia Josefina from El Calafate (4 hours). From the airport (or the hotel if you decide to be in El Calafate earlier due to international flight connection or other reason); you will be privately transferred on a 4hr car journey to the shores of Lago San Martin, where Estancia Josefina is located. Followed by a short 45 minute boat journey along the wild coast to the house. Arrival in time for tea and snacks. We will head out late afternoon for a short ride by the lake. Time permitting.

Overnight Accommodations: Comfy dome cabins near the Estancia House.
DAY TWO
Full day ride up the coast around a laguna on the Estanica. A ride with stunning views of glaciers, forests, lake ... 5 to 6 hours riding in total. Picnic lunch.

DAY THREE
6 hour trail ride to remote summerland on the far reaches of the Estancia. This starts along and beside the shores of Lago San Martin before climbing up to the higher summerland pastures. Picnic lunch at gaucho rest spot. Stunning views and colours all the way. Abundant wildlife in this protected region. Arrive late afternoon at simple summer house set in green pastures near the the lake, which will be our base for exploring for the next day.
Overnight Accommodations: Simple summer house with wood burner stove and outside fireplace for 'asados'. Tented camp for sleeping.
DAY FOUR
After a hearty cooked breakfast, coffees, teas ... the horses will be brought from there grazing spot, saddled up & we'll go on an exploratory ride looking for wild horses and other wildlife sightings (puma, huemul ...). Very likely to be evidence of mountain lion, as there are lot in this region.
Overnight Accommodations: Simple summer house with wood burner stove and outside fireplace for 'asados'. Tented camp for sleeping.
DAY FIVE
We'll ride to back to the Estancia house today! Through forest and dramatic lake shoreline and mountainsides ...
Afternoon arrival with asado barbecue awaiting us.

DAY SIX
Boat journey & transfer back to El Calafate.
Welcome rest in this very welcoming and comfy boutique hotel. Quiet location, very attentive staff and nice decor.

DAY SEVEN
Travel (shot 45 min drive) after breakfast to a lakeside port where we'll be met by Estancia Cristina's comfy boat transfer.
Arrival in the comfy accomodation of Estancia Cristina with its stunning setting in the glacial national park. Very unique and incredible riding scenary so close to the glacial region of Perito Moreno.
A welcome bit of comfort post the Josefina adventure.
Afternoon ride.

DAY EIGHT TO TEN
The 3 days will be day rides on the very good horses and comfy tack. Guided by the knowledgable estancia host guide and gauchos.

Departure after breakfast in time to meet your domestic flight or onward travel plans. This would be the moment to head to an Estancia near Torres del Paine if tracking Puma or other tailored plans were wished for ...
