Daniel El Soguero

I met Daniel over 15 years ago journeying with Ashley Carrithers from his home Ranquilco, where I spent many months, to San Martin. I had come to buy a montura and everything to dress the horse to be comfortable in the cordillera (mountains). Thereafter with Tomas Gibelli at the annual rural (country show) in Junin de Los Andes, where Daniel lives & is highly regarded for his skilled work, I met Daniel again and bought a fine knife (facon) & other artisan pieces useful for estancia life. Actually it is thanks to Tomas & his wife Hannah that I learned much about fine artisan work both in Patagonia & Argentina as a whole. Their passion, knowledge & immaculate taste; I couldn't have been luckier to have had their guidance. That can be said of hat makers, tailors & weavers that they told me about - all of which they use everyday. I always think of them & am most grateful, & treasure the fun memories & times spend together in the beautiful rural environments in around their home. I am always happiest to be around a rustic kitchen with home made goodies - & theirs always had that magic of traditional rustic elegance - scrummy home made goodies; foraged herbs and plants; milk from the jersey cow, baked wonders - lovely wooden bowls & well used kitchen utensils. Canastas (woven baskets) brimming with eye catching goodies. Wonderful.
